Dusting off the shelf...

Whew, I have not been on Xanga in awhile.  I got one of those worrisome emails from Xanga, something along the lines of, "Don't forget about your Xanga website..." So I'm just here to update you. Nothing has changed. That's my update. To be more accurate, please check my blog on my own domain. Thanks for stopping by.

WordPress Active

As I said in a previous blog entry, I was in the process of getting a new blog up and running on my own domain. It's now up and more or less the way I would like to have it. Feel free to drop by. Don't worry, I'm not leaving the xanga universe. I'll be around to comment on blogs over here still. Due to demand, I've eliminated the requirement to log in to the site to comment. It's one big free for all now, yippee.... so, update your bookmarks and visit my new blog.

My Style?

I had a Jones M.F.Grape Soda today with lunch. I know what you’re thinking, “How is he drinking gourmetM.F.Grape Jones Soda soda on a Public Radio Employee salary?” My answer to that, “I had a coupon.”

So, anyway…Jones Soda has sayings on the inside of their bottle caps. The sayings make some sort of sense too. It’s not what you find on the inside of a Mountain Dew or Pepsi bottle like X2354WWSA login to Pepsi.com and find out if you won, etc.   And no, these aren’t Snapple Fun Facts either.

My bottle cap had this, “You will soon receive compliments on your style”

Okay…..

Get a FREAKEN grip!

I’m tired of hearing about The Sopranos.  I don’t care. I didn’t watch the show. It was all over the news today: in the newspaper, on the radio, on TV, and all over the internet everyone complained about how lousy an ending it was.  The ending to Seinfeld was lousy too, but no one complained about that….oh wait, everyone did then too. At least Seinfeld wasn’t on pay tv.

Where to begin...

This is the worst. I haven’t made a post in almost a month. The worst part is trying to get you caught up. This assumes you care.  I’ll assume you do care, you would move onto another page by now if you didn’t.

So what’s new? I survived a year in a college residence hall.  I’m in a residency position where I live on a floor with students and act as a mentor. This position is a 2 year program. I just wrapped up my first year. It was a blast. I’m so glad I decided to be a part of this program.

Probably one of my biggest concerns about living in a residence hall was the noise level. This ended up never being an issue. Either I had exceptionally quiet students on the floor, or they just decided to be quiet whenever I was around.  In any case, I was able to get sleep when I had to (an important factor in my life).

The students left for the summer about a month ago. The building is quiet (sometimes a little too quiet). I learned that most of the building staff doesn’t stick around for the summer. There are probably 3 to 4 other persons that normally stay here in the building at any given time.  But there are exceptions. This building is also used for summer conferences and orientations.  For two to three days at a time the building will be buzzing with activity as people come in to participate in the conferences.  I think it’s a small price to pay for the price of rent, nothing. I’ll deal with the occasional noise of new people coming in and quickly leaving days later.

What else has been up? Oh yeah, I had my birthday. More highlights from my birthday in a future post (hopefully soon). Also, I’ve been working on a new blog. Yes, that’s right. I’m moving away from Xanga altogether. I’ve been busy constructing a new word-press blog. I hope to have that public by the end of the month. Details to follow…
